Justin Brown
VS Guesswork, Misalignment, Mediocrity, and Burnout

I made it to the NFL by mastering fundamentals and executing under pressure. Now I bring that same discipline — backed by validated behavioral science — to leaders and teams who refuse to compete on guesswork.

"The coaching shifted my conflict-resolution mindset from avoiding conflict to finding solutions."

The differentiator

Most assessments stop at behavior.
We measure the motivation under it.

DISC alone tells you how someone behaves. It can't tell you why — what actually drives them under pressure, and what will move them. Pairing the DISC Index with the Values Index closes that gap, and every profile comes with a certified human debrief, not just a report.

The Story

From the Locker Room
to the Boardroom

Penn State. Oklahoma. A sixth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Injuries ended my career — and rebuilding from that is where this work began. The whole story, including the chapter most bios skip, is below.

Justin Brown
Cheltenham → Wilmington

The definition of an athlete

Born in Cheltenham, PA and raised in Wilmington, DE, Justin played everything — football, basketball, baseball, track. His last two years of high school he narrowed to football: first-team All-Conference and All-State as a junior and a senior, and a scholarship to Penn State.

Penn State → Oklahoma

Varsity athlete, full-time student

Wide receiver and punt returner at Penn State — academic All-Big Ten as a freshman, and a Media Studies degree finished in three and a half years while playing. He transferred to Oklahoma for his final season and finished second on the team in all-purpose yards.

The NFL

Sixth round, pick 186

Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played two seasons before being claimed by the Buffalo Bills. Then a foot injury. Then a release. Then two more season-ending injuries — and a road that ended back home in Wilmington.

The Low

The chapter most bios skip

Justin battled depression, fear, and anxiety through the lowest stretch of his life. A local business owner challenged him to reengineer the exact process that had made him an NFL athlete — and run it on whatever came next. That challenge put him in classrooms first: substitute teaching at a public high school, then an associate teaching role at a private elementary school.

Value Solutions

The process, reengineered

That reengineered process became D.I.V.E. — Define, Invest, Value, Execute. Justin certified as an Innermetrix Consultant (DISC, Values, and Attributes indices) and today is President of Value Solutions LLC, training business leaders to understand their teams' behavior and motivation — including engagements inside a Fortune 30 media company.

The Methodology

The D.I.V.E.
Framework

Four depths. One discipline. The deeper you go, the more pressure you can handle — and the further you separate from teams still splashing at the surface.

D
Depth 01 — Surface

Define

Name reality before you try to change it. Assessment data replaces assumptions: who is on this team, how do they behave under pressure, what actually drives them, and where are the gaps between role and capacity.

I
Depth 02 — Descent

Invest

Championship teams invest in fundamentals when nobody is watching. Individual development plans, coaching cadence, and skill-building matched to each person's validated profile — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

V
Depth 03 — Pressure Zone

Value

Alignment happens when people's work connects to what they genuinely value. The Values Index makes motivation visible, so leaders stop guessing what moves each person and start leading them the way they need to be led.

E
Depth 04 — Full Depth

Execute

Preparation means nothing without performance. Execution rhythms, accountability structures, and measurable benchmarks turn insight into wins — reviewed, scored, and improved like game film.

Make it yours

The framework is the same. Your seat isn't.

D.I.V.E. doesn't change from role to role — what changes is what it looks like in your chair, and what your own wiring does with it. These two take the method from general to personal.

Why this instrument

A report never changed how anyone leads. The debrief does.

Most assessment tools end at a PDF. Here, every profile — behavior and motivation together — is walked through one-on-one by a Certified Innermetrix Consultant, built for development rather than labeling. The instrument shows you the data; the debrief turns it into how you actually lead on Monday.

Case Study · Enterprise Engagement

A Fortune 30 media company stopped leading on guesswork.

The Situation

A VP-led technology organization — talented, high-standards, deep on execution — was running team dynamics on instinct. Communication styles, motivations, and conflict responses were invisible, so friction got managed around instead of solved.

The Work

A multi-month engagement built on the D.I.V.E. framework: every leader profiled in three dimensions — DISC, Values, and Attributes — with composite team mapping, certified one-on-one debriefs, facilitated group sessions in a buddy format, and a dedicated in-person deep session for reflection and strategy.

What Changed

The team gained shared language for dynamics they previously had no words for. Blind spots surfaced — including the group's dominant high-stability pattern, its strengths, and its risks under change and speed. Conflict thinking shifted from avoidance toward solutions. The organization now owns a custom leadership playbook built from its own data.

Engagement Outcomes

  • 10 leaders profiled in all three dimensions
  • 7/7 participants reported positive value — zero detractors
  • Team pattern diagnosed with operating recommendations
  • Custom leadership playbook delivered and owned
  • Engagement extended beyond initial scope
  • Per-manager coaching requested for the next phase
